NEWS UP-DATE March - April 2012 OUT AND ABOUT The Club will be looking
at arranging trips from March onwards and we will be using public
transport to visit other local towns and villages. People are able
to use their bus passes for local trips so keep an eye on the monthly
calendar for information. Members have chosen places they would like
to visit, and at present and we are working out the least expensive
way of trying to fulfil these requests. Now that the weather is starting
to improve we will be encouraging members to participate in local
walks which normally take place on Mondays or Tuesdays. With the beautiful
weather recently we have already started taking walks locally and
below are pictures of some members on a walk by the newly renovated
Wilts and Berks Canal.
VALENTINE MASQUERADE
DISCO
CREATIVE MUSIC CLUB The Creative Music Sessions are progressing extremely well. There has been a great deal of improvement by all participants and the Group are looking forward to the sessions continuing. We are planning to perform in the future at the open day of the Calne Voices Project. Watch this space. BOWLING
The weekly swimming club continues to be popular and accesses local transport to travel to Chippenham to the Olympiad Sports Centre. The group has had a new member join them recently and once a month everyone enjoys a meal at a local restaurant after their swim. COOKERY We have been lucky to have a new member of staff join the team and part of her job will be running art and cookery sessions. TRIPS This year (2012) we were planning a holiday to the Hotel Califonia (link) in Newquay Cornwall. Most of the arrangements have been finalized and the members are all eagerly counting down to the departure date. Keep an eye on the site for our holiday pictures at the end of April. At a recent members meeting members requested trips for this Summer. These include a visit to Stratford-on-Avon with a River Cruise, The Railway Museum in Swindon, Malmesbury Gardens, Avebury Manor and a possible trip to the seaside in September. Wii CLUB The Wii Club which takes place most Thursdays and some Fridays (see Calendar on the site for details) this appears at times to be losing its popularity as the weather becomes nicer and members very often would rather go for a walk than play on the Wii. MEMBERS MEETINGS The Club continues to hold members meetings on a regular basis giving members an opportunity to put forward ideas for activities and to discuss any issues. Notes are made and circulated to everyone.
THESE ARE ONLY SOME
OF THE ACTIVITIES WHICH ARE ARRANGED AT THE MILL RACE. IF YOU ARE
